Be taken on a guided tour of Ravenna's city center to see the stunning Byzantine World Heritage - the Basilica di San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo with their extraordinary light-filled golden and multicolored mosaics.
Then, if you feel a bit peckish and your breakfast is a vague memory, time for a pause. Stop in a lovely chocolate shop, owned by the same family for many generations. The owner will offer you a sweet taste and you will be told stories about them and their delicious products.
Walk to Dante's tomb and the Piazza del Popolo, the "Venetian" main square, and to end the tour, you'll have a lunch or a snack with an aperitif in a local osteria or piadineria. You will be enchanted by the Romagna tagliere which includes piadina (the ancient local bread), squacquerone cheese with caramelized figs, salami of Romagna, prosciutto D.O.P., mortadella Bologna and local wine.
