What people are saying about Purmamarca

The humahuaca's gorge is a beautiful arid area but the 14 colours mountain is a natural wonder, a rare breathtaking must-see in the world. A 4 wheel-drive is recommended to climb along the unsealed road up to this 4350 m outlook in Hornocal but it is only 25 km from Humahuaca village. At this altitude, light headaches, dizziness, breathing and heart troubles may occur. So, it is better not to walk too far and stay by the car and enjoy the stunning view.

We had a great day seeing the coloured mountains and the salt lake with enough time to take in the sights. Very good guide who spoke excellent English and provided lots of interesting information. The hike at the end was pretty short. The service at the restaurant we went for lunch was terrible. The guide tried to make up for it by extending our stay in Purmamarca, which resulted in us coming back quite late in the evening.

It is an excellent tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and competent. The various stops were very enjoyable and scenic, perfect for picture taking. The stop in Humahuaca could have been shortened by a half hour, as the tour took over 14.5 hours as there were many police check stops that delayed our return trip to Salta.

From Salta: Day Trip to Quebrada de Humahuaca Reviewed by Lorraine, 02/28/2020

A passionate and knowledgeable guide made the trip. The salt flats are a phenomenon. We did pick up a couple of items from quality local craft outlets. The artist at the outside stand at yours highest point has some unique pieces. I regret not buying more

The trip was great. However they initially agreed to pick us up from hotel, they didn’t honor their agreement and we had to walk to the departure point. Try find a smaller group rather than a large bus load and you would probably enjoy it more.
