Full description
Begin your tour in either Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt and make your way south to Pargua to board a ferry to sail through the Chacao Channel to Chiloe Island. During the trip, see sea wolves, pelicans, and other sea birds endemic to the area.

Upon arrival at Chacao pier, admire the houses built with Alerce wood, and the churches that are a National Heritage Site. Then, continue along a coastal route and visit Caulín beach, a place famous for its oysters and rich marine fauna. Later, go to Puñihuil beach, declared a National Heritage Site for its ecological relevance.

Once on Puñihuil beach, hop on a boat to a small island where you'll find both Magellanic penguins and Humboldt penguins. This is the place where these two species make their nests, and they have coexisted together for generations. With your guide, learn about the way of life of these birds, the surroundings, and the abundance of food that makes these islands a wild paradise.

Next, continue your trip to Ancud city, and see the San Antonio Fort, a historic place located in the highest part of the city. Built in the latter part of the 18th-century, it's one of the last Spanish fortifications in the country. Explore the local churches' heritage foundation, the main square, and the central market, where you can find many gastronomic and craft options from the island.
