What people are saying about Porvoo
It was one of the highlights of my vacation in Finland. Mikhail is an angel. He knows his history fully well, patient, attentive and just has a nice aura to be around. I like Porvoo a lot, with its quaint houses and churches, small town feel but not isolated... and the best hot chocolate I've had in Finland was in one of the oldest cafe!! Buy your Blumberg chocolates here as it is a lot cheaper than Helsinki (1 to 2 Euros cheaper). I would like to see Porvoo in the summer - would probably be awesome!! Anyone going to Helsinki should make sure to do this tour!
The tour unexpectedly became a private tour since no one else joined the tour. Our guide, Mikhail, kindly picked us up from our hotel and guided us to Porvoo. He was so informative to tell the histories around the area, including Porvoo Cathedral and the ancient foretress, Iso Linnamäki. He also brought us to a Brunberg chocolate store (recommended as it has cheaper price than in regular store) and a local restaurant nearby (Hanna-Maria) for lunch together. We enjoyed our trip and the local food there.
Mikhael was a great, informative guide, he knew the answer to every question we had - about Porvoo and Helsinki and Finland in general! It was great having a local take us around and get a sense of the Finnish people. The tour was very relaxed and we stopped for lunch at the end at a lovely historical cafe.
I was the only participant, so I had a really privat tour. Mikhail showed me around the town, which is really lovely. There were hardly any other tourists there, so it was a very peaceful atmosphere. Great trip!
