What people are saying about Porta Pinciana
First: this was not 3 hours! It should probably not be advertised as such; it was maybe 2.5 at the very, very most. My tour guide, Luca (sp?) was great. He was funny, knowledgeable, and moved at a pleasant place. We never spent too much time discussing the history and context of an artwork, which was much appreciated given that you are limited to a 2 hour visit within the gallery. Having someone explain the history behind the pieces really added to the experience, and was much better than just viewing beautiful statutes on my own. Our guide was careful to point out the most remarkable details on the Bernini pieces, the hidden symbolism in the Carravaggios, the mystery and the historical significance of the Borghese's villa, and more.
Our guide was an art historian and she provided much appreciated insights regarding the art, notable features of different works, and the artists. The limit on numbers of people in the gallery at one time provided a superior experience compared to a Vatican tour the day before. This gallery tour, with its background information, is well worth doing, even for someone not particularly a fan of the arts. Booking with this tour gave us the opportunity to visit the gallery on only 4 - 5 days notice.
Miccaela (I hope I'm writing her name right) was fantastic! Knowleadgeable and friendly. She gave us an impressive amount of background history, a bit of fun gossip and a perfect explanation of all works of art. Well worth the money! I just wish we could have more time but that's it's not to fault the tour since the Gallery limits our time (2hs only) if something it's to show how amazing this tour is and after 2 Hs you are left wanting more.
Absolutely astonishing to walk around in the most beautiful museum I ever visited in the world! The guided tour by Anna made our visit almost as devoted as she is herself to the art of The Villa Borghesa . Thank you Anna for your knowledge and the experience!
The tour was great and our guide was very knowledgeable, however we had to leave earlier as the gallery closes for lunch and the guides were aware of this, yet we were still promised a longer tour. We were rushed out in the end, but overall good experience
