Would certainly recommend a visit to Montjuïc. Lovely ride to the top and then fantastic views from the castle. The grounds are beautiful and very well looked after. Booking on line was easy but there is no separate entrance for online bookings. The castle is very interesting and you can spend as long as you like just wandering around. Plenty of shade, except on top of the castle, and a cafe inside the castle and a place to buy drinks and ice creams in the grounds outside. A very good day.
The ride was good but getting to the boarding point was extremely confusing as there are two cable cars and reviews said best way to get to the Montjuic Cable car was by the other one. this was very difficult to find and when you get off that there are no signs how to get to the Montjuic cable car. It should be explained on the ticket that you either have to get a bus or a taxi to the boarding point it is too far to walk. It was a lot of walking and the Spanish are not very helpful.
We booked.the tickets before we came to Barcelona and walked for an hour down to the harbour to get on, what we thought were the cable cars. Don't be fooled, however - That is a different cable car. When we got the bus back to where we should have been, we both agreed that it was head and shoulders above the coastal cable car. Absolutely amazing. Best views of the city you could have.
A bit of a queue but it goes down quickly enough. Disappointed that a whole group 15 plus Russians pushed in front of us and no body said anything! However I was glad they were out of the way! Very rude! But the cable car was well worth it for the views! I would recommend you get on at mirador go down the rack then all the back up to the castle ... the queue are shorter there!
A fantastic thing to do in Barcelona. We were very lucky that the weather was sunny and clear which gave us amazing photos from the cable car and from the top. You have to pay extra to go in the castle at the top (€5) it was worth the entrance fee for the views alone. There is an exhibition inside the castle at the moment which is worth a wander around too.
