Interesting and informative guide. We did run into problems getting in due to entrances being blocked off and security guards deployed at one every entrance due to events happening on the day. The guide was determined to get us in and did not give up which many others may have done. It was almost two tours in one. Gave us an idea how it must that been to get over the wall before it was torn down. Lol. The building itself is stunning and a great deal of thought has gone into it from an architectural and functional point of view. The views a stunning. Well recommended. I. Would have giver it five stars if not for the entrance problems but that was definitely not the fault of the tour guide.
We had a nice walk with the knowlegeable German guide who stopped at a few places connected to the Reichstag which we as tourists never would have noticed! He managed to the describe the cold War and what it was like to live in a divided city! To enter the Reichstag and take the lift and look out on Berlin was magnificent! We had a Little drink in the cafe together and learned more and could ask the guide anything! We walked down in our own way Can definitely recommend this tour!
Our guide was very knowlegable and told us a lot of interesting information about the area around the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag - much of this area was empty space between the sides of the wall during the Cold War era and there are now many new buildings relating to the German Parliament, embassies, etc. The top of the Reichstag is a great viewing point, and the Dome itself is stunning, both in looks and in the function of its design.
Our tour guide Bjorn was really friendly and informative...he told us and taught us about Berlin in a very personal way, that we learnt things we never knew about ! We started off at the Gate where we got to see pictures of before and after the war and the Berlin Wall and went all around the other parliament buildings before we went to the Reichstag. The tour was great but our tour guide made it even better so thank you bjorn !
Bjorn brought history back to life with his personal knowledge of Berlin and growing up during a troubled time in its past. He was friendly and kept all his guests interested from the start at the Brandenburg Gate to the finish at the dome of the Reichstag. I would have no hesitation recommending this tour to anyone taking a city break to Berlin.
