What people are saying about Piriápolis
The tour guide was good ....even though her mic was terrible and had to reset 100 times so we could hear her. The only negative part is the restaurant they recommend....I understand the guides and bus drivers get a free meal by referring us there ... The Tonel is so busy there is food on the floor and extremely dirty bathrooms and the food is definitely nothing to write Home about....I had to return the fish ....supposedly pan fried but I guess they threw it in a pan with a left over of egg mixture and they were saying is was the fish skin lol ...and it was not fresh to say the least....Its a tourist trap and I got trapped ;( Otherwise it's worth the money and the 10-11 hrs on the road are well spent. I do recommend the tour Not the Restaurant. Ps get a tkt for Casa Pueblo and do visit It is worth it ;) Enjoy!! Gaston
What an amazing day! Our guide was fabulous! She made sure to communicate with each of us individually to make sure we understood all aspects and offered her help (even gave us all a treat). Piripolis was nice but wait til you see Casapueblo! Prepay for the ticket so you don't wait in line. We could have used 15 more minutes more there. Punta del Este was lovely with time to walk the penisula and see the sites that we drove past in the bus. I didn't join the group for lunch and had my own on the beach by The Hand. I think because everyone was on time and we weren't completely full, we got on the road a bit early and made it to the stops ahead of the other busses, making the stops less crowded. How lucky! The bus was clean and the drive felt safe.
Nice little tour out of town for the day. well worth buying the add-on tickets for Casa Pueblo to skip the queue. Plenty of time in Punta Del Este to walk around and have a meal. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Our guide was great (we travelled on the 9th February) - didn't catch his name, but please thank him for a great tour, and for letting me try his tea - Caleb & Mark (London)
The tour was good but 2hrs 50minutes was too long for lunchtime break. An hour less would have been long enough. Maybe a bit more time to wander around the older part ofmothers the town. Also I paid for my ticket to visit Casa Mueblo in advance but had to pay again on entry as the guide did not have the tickets. She did however refund my payment.
It's impressive the guide was switching between Spanish, Portugese and English. But we felt he always spoke more Spanish than English. When it came to introductions in English, it felt it was shorter than other languages. The tour was well planned, organized and we enjoyed it.
