What people are saying about Pena Palace
It's important to get skip the line tickets, especially during the high tourist season. My second piece of advice is to go early in the morning -- there were a lot of hills and the line of cars/buses to get up to the palace moved very slowly as we didn't go until mid-day. But it was worth it -- a beautiful fairly-tale like castle
Pena Palace and Sintra are so different from almost any other European palace or castle or mansion. The colorfulness and whimsy, along with the incredible details make it worth a visit, even with crowds and heat and uphill walking. GYG tickets helped a lot because the ticket line would have been very long!
The queues get massive almost immediately. Parking is challenging but fine if early. The palace is unbelievable - one of the most stunning places I have visited. Be prepared for loads of walking up and down hills if you want to see the gardens. Worth every euro - brilliant place to visit.
Definitely worth buying tickets beforehand, queues for this popular destination are considerable, I suggest using the online tickets as early in the day as possible and visiting the palace interiors first. Then spending time outside not forgetting the lovely park.
Our tour guide was exceptionally informative & knowledgable on the history of his country. He provided good tips on how to get around & good recommendations on restaurants, etc. Tour flow was well planned. Highly recommend this tour.
