Full description
You'll meet your guide by the fountain at Place Saint-Michel to start your Women of Paris Tour. Your expert local guide will begin your visit by guiding you to the iconic Panthéon Church, where both Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie and women's rights champion Simone Veil lie in rest. There you will hear the story of Marie Curie, one of the most famous women to have lived in Paris and the first woman to win the Nobel Prize. You'll also be inspired by the work of Simone Veil, who was responsible for advancing women's legal rights in the 20th century and whose contributions remain felt to this day.

Following that, visit the popular bookshop Shakespeare & Co. to learn about the lives of two fascinating American authors and intellectuals: Sylvia Beach and Gertrude Stein. As you continue walking through the Latin Quarter of Paris, your tour guide will tell you the story of another household name: Coco Chanel. This institution of the fashion industry can be found all over the world, and it all started here with one woman's drive to liberate women by making clothes that were both comfortable and functional.

Explore the Luxembourg Gardens and learn about Queen Marie Antoinette and other famous French females. You'll also hear about the struggles of Olympe de Gouges, an 18th-century women's rights campaigner who was eventually beheaded by her government.

Finally, see the Sorbonne, France's most illustrious university where writer Simone de Beauvoir graduated before penning her famous feminist theories. Your tour guide will tell you just why this woman became the seminal figure in French feminism. There is no doubt that women have transformed France into the country it is today, and by joining this tour you can celebrate the fantastic females who shaped France.
