Full description
Paris in one day is possible with this tour of the Louvre and Île de la Cité and a boat cruise along the Seine. Your day begins at the Louvre, the largest museum in the world where your art historian guide will take you straight into the ex-royal palace with skip-the-line access. This will give you more time to explore the miles of art inside while your guide takes you on their favorite trail of the most outstanding exhibits. Chief among these are the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. Each of these artworks has a unique story to tell about the culture that produced it once you have an insightful guide with you.

Following your art appreciation in the Louvre, you have time to appreciate some French cuisine with some free time in the nearby Latin Quarter. One of the most exciting arrondissements of Paris, this was where Hemingway, Joyce, and Beckett liked to stroll about and sip aperitifs in the afternoon at a nearby bistro.

After lunch, you’ll cross the bridge onto the island where Notre Dame Cathedral is located. You’ll be able to see the flying buttresses beneath the scaffolding which surrounds it since the fire. This cathedral and others on the island carry the story of medieval Paris in their walls. Your guide will recount what happened to each of them as successive waves of faith, royalty and revolution flowed over the city.

Of course, Paris is even more wonderful from the water with the lights reflecting off the Seine. You will end your day cruising through the city on a pre-booked boat. Drifting between the banks of the City of Lights you’ll view the Eiffel Tower as few others have seen it.
