  • Be amazed by the abundance of wildlife living in the jungle
  • Visit an authentic indian village to experience the local way of life
Full description
Leave the city behind in the morning and head to the Chagres River where you will board a boat for a 2-hour tour in Lake Gatun (once the largest manmade lake in the world) and the Panama Canal!

Explore the ins and outs of the nearby bays, search for wildlife, and visit the famous Monkey Island, home of the amazing white faced monkeys! Also, keep an eye out for turtles, crocodiles, caiman, tons of bird life and all kinds of other surprises.

Return towards Gamboa, pass the dock and head upstream to the Indian village. Unlike most Indian village tours, this one is authentic! Learn about the local culture, history and crafts. Then, hike along a short trail to see the plants that grow in this area and how the locals use them (practical, artist or medical uses) and see dance that is part of their custom.

After visiting the village, return towards Panama City and stop along the way for lunch and arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.

Lively. Knowledgeable. Respectful. Recommended. Our guides from Barefoot, Tereza and Gonzo, had great rapport, were enthusiastic, and very engaging. Tereza was also kind with our ever curious elementary-age child. Tereza and Gonzo really knew their stuff. We loved that they shared stories about their personal experiences, individual animals, and the unique knowledge of the Wounaan people. They also showed warmth and regard for the people. We got the sense that they really work with them as partners. Which we appreciated. They were also respectful of the wildlife we encountered. We learned a lot and had a great day. Highly recommend the tour.

What a great experience! The island were beautiful and the monkeys were plenty. Thry will jump right on the boat and eat from your hand. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. Few tips: go early in the morning. The monkeys are hungriest at that time. Sit in the front of the boat. The monkeys come that way most often! I would do this again!

wonderful

Great guide. Three species of monkeys + alligators & buzzards. A wonderful day out on the canal. Theresa was very good. I enjoyed the Indian village though the walking was too rough for me to go very far on the forest walk part of it, so I played with the little kids instead. Wonderful.
