Red dirt, limestone caves, tiny towns, wonderful wetlands!

This is a great tour for those who are keen to head west and explore a little more of far north Queensland. A very different experience from the coastal towns, days on the reef, and walks in the rainforest - the trip to Chillagoe via the Mareeba Wetlands is a fantastic way to explore another side of Queensland. The tour starts with a drive through the rainforest, across the fruit growing region, and into Mareeba to experience the wetlands and its plethora of birdlife (including a few friendly emus), then its back on the road through rural landscape and the tiny one-pub towns toward Chillagoe. The remnants of the smelter at Chillagoe are quite a sight and the history of the area complete with old photographs is well worth spending some time with during your stop at the local visitor centre. The caves at Chillagoe are magnificent inside and out. You'll be entertained and informed by the Billy Tea Safaris tour guide, and the ranger who leads the Chillagoe cave tours. A great day!

Fabio was an excellent instructor & helped everyone a lot

Fabio is the lead rescue diver on the ship. I am very lucky and happy he was because I needed him my day out to see. You see, when I was 15 years old I drowned in a lake. I was determined to overcome my fear of the water. I put on my life jacket, got into the Pacific Ocean and just as quickly started crying and turned around for the ship. At that point, Fabio was summoned to assist me. He calmed me down, suited up, and somehow got me back into the water. He used a ring which I held onto and he securely held the outsides of my arms. Slowly, he convinced me to look into the water... it was quite beautiful under the water. We stayed in the water for a little while. After lunch he convinced me easily to go back into the water. We made it 100 meters from the ship. I saw the reef and fish. Everything was wonderful. I never could have done it without help from Fabio... by far the best rescue diver who luckily didn’t have to dive to rescue me. Respectfully Kim I Carney NJ-USA

An amazing day from start to finish. Highly recommend it

from start to finish it was amazing. Best guide, gavin. i am sure we saw everything there was to see except the cassowary. Went for a cruise on the Daintree river, saw a crocodile sunning itself. For lunch we had a great BBQ, cooked by Matt(guide in the other 4WD) then off to the the rain forest which was amazing. stopped for a dip in ellis creek and then had billy tea and damper.and also fruit tasting, native and tropical. on the way back to Cairns stopped for an icecream, not your ordinary icecream. these were made from native and tropical fruits and were absolutely delicious. ll in all this was a fabulous day and well worth every cent. i highly recommend it to anybody wanting to see the best of the daintree and also Cape Tribulation and a walk along the beach..

Great experience snorkeling on Great Barrier Reef

It was a good look at the reef and the fish etc. The reef wasn’t as colourful as I expected. The crew were very friendly and helpful. The staff organised us well for great experience. It was a bit cold at times, especially with breeze blowing and when we got wet from snorkeling. There were a lot of people on the boat. It was tricky at times with lack of space to sit, eat and waiting for others. The sea was rougher than I expected but the large boat handled it well.

Terrific trip with exceptional dive crew

This trip was on a very comfortable and spacious boat. The organization on board was superb. We were changed to another boat from the one booked but I think it was an upgrade as there was only a 60 person capacity which was not full and around 10 crew/dive supervisors. The reefs were teaming with fish and lunch on board was more than expected. This trip is well worth doing.
