Full description
Enjoy panoramic views of the Sicilian country roads outside Palermo on a 7-hour food and wine tour and visit a typical family winery that produces only organic wine. After sampling some of their produce, continue for the cooking session of your tour.

Upon arrival at a farmhouse in Marineo, about 18 miles (30 kilometers) from Palermo, you will be welcomed by the owners for a tour of their farm factory that's famous for its ricotta cheese. Then start your cooking class under the direction of Ciro, the son of the owner. You won’t keep to any particular pre-arranged menu as you’ll be following the Mediterranean example and cooking what is fresh and local.

After pre-dishes of cheese, handmade marmalade, local vegetables and bread, sit down to a serving of pasta. Taste the flavors of Sicily in the country restaurant of the farm, along with water and local red wine. Your second dish will be a meat dish, followed by fresh fruits.

Next, go to Piana degli Albanesi to sample some of the famous cannoli siciliani, an unforgettable pastry dessert that's filled with sweet treats using ricotta cheese. Enjoy! It's one of the hallmarks of Sicilian cuisine.

Our group expected to do more food preparation first hand rather than observe the chef prepare one dish. Otherwise, the hosts at the restaurant very cordial and welcoming. The winery tasting was disappointing because we expected to taste current selections for sale. We had 1 taste of fermenting white wine and a taste of red wine from a metal fermentation tank. Finally, the host only spoke Italian which our driver had to translate. Not the best tasting experience and winery visit.

Amazing Culinary Tour in the Sicilian Countryside - a Must Go!

We had the chance to do this culinary tour in August 2018 and it was such an amazing experience! We started the tour at a small batch winery in Marineo and had a great conversation with the winemaker about the winemaking process and about her craft expertise. From there, we traveled to a beautiful agro-turismo, tucked into the Sicilian countryside. We had 1 on 1 cooking lessons with the chef, Chef Ciro, who walked us through the philosophy of Kilometre Zero as we cooked a delicious meal of three vegetable starters, a delicious Pasta A La Norma and a lovely lamb dish! We finished with Ciro's special molten cream cake - such an amazing meal. All the while, we heard about the history and details of Sicily and the agro-turismo and we were able to walk the grounds and take in that splendor. Finally, after the meal and the agro-turismo tour, we headed back home - a truly unforgettable experience!

The cultural experience of a lifetime.

The entire tours was wonderfully executed and went exactly as planned. Pickup was prompt and we were able to quickly exist the chaos of Palermo while getting a short tour of the cities cultural monuments. Outside, exited our van to see our first stop, at Buceci organic winery, where we got to taste a variety of local flavors and get a fantastic view overlooking the valley out to the sea in Marmino. Afterwards we went down a small country road and up the mountains further till reached an old family farm, where our host chef Chiro redefined the taste of pasta, zucchini, pork sausages, and goat cheeses for us. Plus a bit more wine. The food was phenomenal. Finally we stopped at one of the outlying old Greek orthodox cities for some of the best cannoli I've had during my four months in the country. Overall the trip was fantastic, our tour guides Andrea and Vincenzo(in training) were fantastic, knowledgeable and spoke strong, but not perfect, English. This trip exceeded expectations.
