Amazing Culinary Tour in the Sicilian Countryside - a Must Go!

We had the chance to do this culinary tour in August 2018 and it was such an amazing experience! We started the tour at a small batch winery in Marineo and had a great conversation with the winemaker about the winemaking process and about her craft expertise. From there, we traveled to a beautiful agro-turismo, tucked into the Sicilian countryside. We had 1 on 1 cooking lessons with the chef, Chef Ciro, who walked us through the philosophy of Kilometre Zero as we cooked a delicious meal of three vegetable starters, a delicious Pasta A La Norma and a lovely lamb dish! We finished with Ciro's special molten cream cake - such an amazing meal. All the while, we heard about the history and details of Sicily and the agro-turismo and we were able to walk the grounds and take in that splendor. Finally, after the meal and the agro-turismo tour, we headed back home - a truly unforgettable experience!

Great way to get immersed in Sicilian history and food

I love doing food and history walking tours when I travel - I find they are a wonderful way to learn more about the city you are visiting and the local cuisine (and helpful to orient yourself to the city). This tour was interesting - we mostly tried the street food from one place in the Capo market (arancina, panelle (a fried chickpea batter "cake", pane con la milza (oh my this is boiled and then sauteed spleen and lung from a cow served on a soft roll with very salty cheese - I would say this is for folks who like liver or kidney), sfincione (like pizza with no cheese), crocche (a potato croquette), and cannoli. Our guide was very knowledgable - I learned that there are actually tour guide schools and our guide spent 2 years studying his curriculum. I would recommend.

Super interessant, leckeres Street Food und super sympagthischer Guide

Fabrizio is super likable and knows a lot about his home city. During the tour we tried the typical food of Palermo and learned the origin of the names of the food that partly differ to the Italian names. It was also possible to ask him about the Sicilian lifestyle and he showed us his home town from a personal point of view which was very interesting. Of course the history of this stunning city is remarkable and we highly regret that we could not spend more time there. We promissed to come back and we can really recommend the tour with Fabrizio.

Very informative walking tour with some street food as part of it

I wouldn't say this is the most comprehensive street food tour (so if you are looking for a lot of street food, this is probably middle ground). But it was very interesting walking tour also with history and nice out of the way stories about various things, with a fair amount of street food as part of it, so I would say it was a good mix of both street food and walking history tour (if that is what you are interested in, which for us was a good mix). Guide was very interesting and informed also

A not to be missed experience in Palermo

Fabrizio was the difference between a good trip and an excellent experience. He arrived at the appointed time and soon had us entwined in the Palermo life style. The history of Palermo lifestyle and history was explained and how it translated into present circumstances. The food bits were excellent as well! Capo market was explored and the local delicacies were explained and tasted. You must try the Milza!
