What people are saying about Palermo

Cooking Class Excellent, Wine Tour Disappointing

Prompt p/u from accommodations in Palermo. Our guide, Vincenzo, was warm, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Winery tour (Buceci) disappointing-no vines grown here, very boring view of the landscape, winery guides spoke no English, and, finally, tasted three types of wine (Euros 3.50/bottle) which were good, but when we asked to taste some of the other wines (more expensive) we were told that the wines needed to breath for at least an hour and we didn’t have enough time. Departed winery for Agriturismo Parco Vecchio, a beautiful rustic farmhouse nestled among the rolling hills outside of Marineo. No offer to tour farm dairy/factory. Cooking class as described - we watched as owner/chef Ciro prepared several appetizers, a pasta dish and a meat dish. After the prep of each course, we sat in dining room to enjoy each dish complimented with prosecco and red wine. Delicious! Ciro warm and pleasurable, spoke some English. If you go, confirm highlights prior to booking esp. winery.

Good tour of the city, highlighting it's history and important historical locations on both routes. We'd advise to start early as possible to take in both routes, and allow time to hop on, hop off at your preferred locations. It's a lot to take in so quickly, so bring a pen and paper to make note of locations which you'd like to revisit on route. The ticket is unlimited on both routes for 24 hours from your entry onto the tour bus. You can start at any point on the circuits convenient to you - both start/terminate at Teatro Politeama. Make note where your stop is, take note of the sign locations- they're not always clear & visible, as sometimes the bus has to stop close as possible, due to traffic/parking. If you 'Re staying a few days in Palermo - very worthwhile, it'll give you guidance to explore further. Both routes intersect at Teatro Massimo - there is good shopping and dining options within a short walk. Great history, architecture and buildings are sublime.

Amazing Culinary Tour in the Sicilian Countryside - a Must Go!

We had the chance to do this culinary tour in August 2018 and it was such an amazing experience! We started the tour at a small batch winery in Marineo and had a great conversation with the winemaker about the winemaking process and about her craft expertise. From there, we traveled to a beautiful agro-turismo, tucked into the Sicilian countryside. We had 1 on 1 cooking lessons with the chef, Chef Ciro, who walked us through the philosophy of Kilometre Zero as we cooked a delicious meal of three vegetable starters, a delicious Pasta A La Norma and a lovely lamb dish! We finished with Ciro's special molten cream cake - such an amazing meal. All the while, we heard about the history and details of Sicily and the agro-turismo and we were able to walk the grounds and take in that splendor. Finally, after the meal and the agro-turismo tour, we headed back home - a truly unforgettable experience!

The best way of viewing Palermo in just a few hours!

The city centre of Palermo is bigger than we thought and booking this tour was a great idea! Moreover, booking the ticket online is recommended because the ticket office is not open in the afternoon. Cons: - During the first ride, I had to send by email my booking to one of the employees of the company. - A number of passengers wanted to take the same line at the same line, probably because they arrived together with a cruise. We avoided it by taking the other line and the company reacted adding extra buses to the route. They also organised quite well the queue by giving numbers to the passengers, so whoever arrived first, entered first the bus. - One of the employees was quite rude and not helpful to everyone.

Palermo Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour: 24-Hour Ticket Reviewed by JOSE LUIS, 05/22/2015

Our group expected to do more food preparation first hand rather than observe the chef prepare one dish. Otherwise, the hosts at the restaurant very cordial and welcoming. The winery tasting was disappointing because we expected to taste current selections for sale. We had 1 taste of fermenting white wine and a taste of red wine from a metal fermentation tank. Finally, the host only spoke Italian which our driver had to translate. Not the best tasting experience and winery visit.
