The line of people with tickets was roughly x4 the size of the no ticket line. We got there around 9:15 but didn’t get in until about 10:50. There’s only one security screening which was ridiculous considering the amount of people coming in. We went on a Saturday so maybe we just got unlucky but if I was to do it again, I think I’d buy the ticket there or get there at 8:15/8:30 for 9:00 opening. The palace itself was incredible but they let fair too many people in so it does ruin the atmosphere and makes it extremely hard to stop and enjoy. Would recommend hiring a golf cart but get in the line early
Gabriella was informative and interesting, the site is a historical must, but the crowds - especially those who believe their photos and videos take precedence over good manners and others' enjoyment - significantly detract from the experience. Perhaps, tourists should be taught that most of the visuals are already on line. Furthermore, perhaps they should be taught how to be considerate of others. It appears some have no clue that other individuals exist.
This tour was excellent. I must also congratulate the staff at the booking centre on their assistance over a problem that arose with our party. They could not have done more in a polite and helpful way even though they were very busy. The tour itself was most informative. The only thing I would say is that for the over 75s it was quite long in the heat.
Our tour guide Gabriella was amazing: thoroughly knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and helpful. Even after the tour ended, she stayed and patiently answered our questions about the Gardens and Petit Trianon, which were not covered under her parts of the tour. Highly recommended.
A really excellent and interesting tour, lots of info on Versailles and French history, art and architecture. Really easy to find the meeting point and so nice to then be led past all the queues without having to read all the signage and then be at the front.
