What people are saying about Outer Great Barrier Reef

We had a lovely day - great amenities, good food, riff locations okay.

Overall, we had a really good day! I'll keep it short and just mention what we liked the best and what the least. The best: The friendly staff equipped us with everything we needed, such as wetsuits, snorkeling equipment, floaties, and they offered guided snorkeling tours for swimmers who were insecure (they could hang on to a life preserver) which was amazing for my parents!!! The worst: We chose this tour because they advertised that they would pick from 24 locations depending on riff conditions... well, the second riff they stopped at was a big wall which you couldn't approach because the tide would suck you onto the wall's top which was too shallow that day... that's the opposite of good conditions, I'd say. Now, we still had a great time, which is why I happily give 5 stars, but I just didn't care for the exaggerated advertisement. To end with something positive, though, the food was delicious and the beer prices super fair and the main reef guide very funny and knowledgable.

Good deal in a structured environment for beginner level snorklers

Semi submersible was good to see many thing that would be hard to see just snorkeling (eg stingray, turtles, large shelves of coral). Food was just plain not appetizing. But you get what you pay for. If you snorkel in the beginner area near the ship, the coral looks bleached and the formations and fish are very deep so it’s harder to appreciate their bright colors. If you can venture out a few meters past the beginner area, the reef is shallower and there are more schools of fish and sea life. Staff were mostly professional and helpful except for one, Maki. I hard difficulty with my swim gear and asked Maki if she had any tips and she snapped at me saying “go find someone else to ask.” Then she turned around and walked away. I don’t expect that type of customer service is tolerated by Quicksilver so I would hope that they have discussions addressing her issues.

Great experience snorkeling on Great Barrier Reef

It was a good look at the reef and the fish etc. The reef wasn’t as colourful as I expected. The crew were very friendly and helpful. The staff organised us well for great experience. It was a bit cold at times, especially with breeze blowing and when we got wet from snorkeling. There were a lot of people on the boat. It was tricky at times with lack of space to sit, eat and waiting for others. The sea was rougher than I expected but the large boat handled it well.

Absolutely Fantastic! (3 Scottish tourists 1 Local)

Every single thing was catered for and the staff were absolutely fantastic! Could not do enough for you. Very attentive! Lots of room on the boat and good educational sessions on the reef. By far the best trip/boat company we have been on in any of the countries visited. Keep up the fantastic work!

I would definitely recommend this company.

Crew was very helpful and tried hard to make our experience the best they could. You could snorkel with a guide if you chose too. Very helpful with less confident swimmers. Lunch was good. Not too many people on the boat like the bigger rigs. I would definitely recommend this company.
