What people are saying about Orvieto
This was one of the best experiences of our Italy trip! Orvietio and Assissi were awesome. We were promptly picked up by Green Line Tours at our hotel, escorted by a great guide, Sylvia, who was extremely knowledgeable and hospitable. Our local guide in Assissi, Begonia, was terrific also. The rich history of both small towns, the beauty of the architecture, quaint stone streets, cathedrals, and local culture are not to be missed. If you are coming to Rome and want to take a day trip, this is a must.
The underground tour was fascinating and a lot of fun. This was full of information and very historical through thousands of years. The highlight however was the 5 course ( not a lite lunch at all ) served with wine in the shadow of the most beautiful cathedral and piazza you will find anywhere. The food was just fabulous and the family wine unforgettable!! In true Umbrian fashion the family that owns the restaurant has a winery & makes their own olive oil. I even bought a take home bottle of the white and I am a red wine lover ( the red was outstanding too ) but the white was something else. So take this cave tour and then eat, drink and be merry!!
The guide, Mara and driver, Locus was fantastic. Mara was detailed and Locus was very patient and kind. The overall trip was good. No doubt, we would like to visit this place again if we have the chance.
This trip was beyond my expectation. Antuanett was an excelent tour guide. It was only 3 of us, we had extremely friendly atmosphere, Assissi and Orvietto was stunning. We also enjoyed a nice lunch with umbria wine and truffles as well stopped for fenomenal wine testing. I would absolutely recommend this tour
We liked the tour. However when I booked for this tour we had no idea that the way to Orvieto was by cablecar. We did not mind because we are used to it but I have a friend who is afraid of heights and would never go up on cable cars. So if she was with me, would it have meant that she would have had to skip the Orvieto part of the tour and would have had to stay behind waiting for us downhill at the cable car station? Please be so kind as to mention in your tour description that the way to Orvieto is done by cable car. Thanks. Besides according to the brochure which says that... I quote:"Leaving Assisi, stop at the town of Santa Maria degli Angeli, where St. Francis died in 1226." we missed stopping at this town. Why was this? Otherwise we had a lovely interesting tour and the guide was very informative.
