The Devil in Notre Dame's details

This Gothic masterpiece took almost 200 years to build, only to be trashed by Huguenots, Revolutionaries, and World War II. Restoration efforts have triumphantly returned every last detail of the cathedral to its former magnificence. Here's what to look for!

Gargoyles

The expressive stone gargoyles along the cathedral's facade are perhaps the most famous in the world. Just don't expect them to talk and fly like in The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

Rose window

At Notre Dame's south facade, the stained-glass Rose Window illustrates the story of the New Testament through an astonishing 84 panes!

Great organ

There are no less than three organs at Notre Dame, but you definitely won't miss the main one. The Great Organ comprises an impressive five keyboards and 8,000 pipes!

Relics

Among the religious relics on display at Notre Dame are a piece of Jesus' crucifix and a suspiciously bling Crown of Thorns. Get Your Guide cannot guarantee their authenticity!

What people are saying about Notre-Dame Cathedral

Who would have guessed a tour of a church would be so charming and fun

Nothing makes more of a good memory than the personal touch of a lovely guide. Doina, full of surprises, gave us a tour with an unexpected mix of facts and fun. Prepared with sketches of the church, she led us within the inside and outside, explaining us the figures and happily answered our questions. The binoculars come handy to see the details. The meeting point was precise and she was there before to greet us. I had a lot of fun and felt sooo alive, peaceful because of the spirit of the church and inspired by the presence of Doina.
