Full description
For the past 300 years New Orleans has hung precariously to the lower lip of a country that doesn’t know quite what to make of it. Known for a culture of decadence that was unprincipled and downright sinful at times, the New Orleans of old was a place where foreign cultures mixed and the castoffs of society found a home. Join your friendly local guide for a two-hour walking tour through the epicenter of it all: the French Quarter.

Learn about iconic local personages like Silver Dollar Sam, Diamond Jim, Emma Johnson and her House of All Nations, and Norma Wallace. Walk down Bourbon Street at the historic heart of the French Quarter crammed with bars and strip clubs. Explore the area where Storyville was located and learn about the history of the legendary tenderloin district that beckoned all comers between 1898 and 1917. Meet the King Fish, Governor Huey Long, who fathered modern Louisiana through patronage and payoffs. He might have become President — if he hadn’t been assassinated.
