Full description
Climb aboard a flat-bottomed airboat and prepare for an exploration of Louisiana's wetlands just south of New Orleans. Head 30 minutes from downtown and experience some of the most beautiful and secluded areas of the state while catching glimpses of alligators, turtles and birds.

Set out on a 20,000-acre (8,095-ha) track of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your boat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees as your pilot points out a stunning variety of wildlife.

Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter) and your guide may even feed the gators, affording you amazing photo opportunities. As you zigzag through the soggy wetlands, keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl, or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria.

The boat tour in itself was great. However, the booking experience via Get Your Guide was bad. For example, first time I went to the side it said after I added my credit card that the transaction had failed. I did it again and it got through the second time. shortly after I received a confirmation for 2 bookings instead of one. Even thought the site said that I can cancel a transaction I got the message "your cancellation window as expired" literally 5 after I got the confirmation email. Not only is your UX clunky and faulty and I had to call to cancel the transaction. In total it took me three calls for the cancellation. The number on the site got me to the tour operation who said I would need to call the 3rd party booker "you". Then I reached someone who was super nice, but I could not understand the accent. So I had to call again. Overall, it was too much work and not seamless. Also, when canceling a transaction is made so hard it makes me suspicious of the site. Best, Katharina L

Early warning for the sensitive hearing and sinus sufferers

The overall experience was great. If you want to see the Alligators, suggest to book tour on a warm day if possible (we were able to see 13 alligators, 1 crane, 3 turtles, 1 rattlesnake) . The propellers on your boat and the others can be deafening and not enough provided headphones; claim your pair early on. Take Benedryl while on the charter bus going to the activity to prevent sinus headaches.
