Full description
Day 1:

Departing from Nazareth, you’ll drive to the border crossing at Sheikh Hussein Bridge then continue towards Jerash. Stop to have lunch at a nearby restaurant before arriving at the ancient Roman city. Explore the well-preserved colonnaded streets, mosaics, baths, temples, and admire the blend of Eastern and Western architectural traditions at the marvelous hippodrome.

Your next destination is the city of Amman. Drive by the Royal Palace, King Hussein National Mosque, and get an overview of Jordan’s capital city. After tasting a delicious local sweet called knafeh, continue south toward the desert, and arrive at the Bedouin camp where you’ll spend the night. Enjoy a delicious meal and sleep in a comfortable tent. (L, D)

Day 2:

Your second day begins with a tour of Petra, one of the wonders of the world and Jordan’s most famous attraction. Carved into the red cliffs in the early 1st century as the tomb of a Nabataean king, the site was hidden under sand for centuries before becoming accessible again. Enter through a narrow gorge, then tour the Treasury and Amphitheater with a guide who will explain the site’s history.

After the guided visit, enjoy some free time to continue exploring on your own. Climb to the Royal Tombs, walk down the Roman Cardo, hike up to the Monastery, and marvel at the beauty of the different sites. Meet up with your group for lunch in Wadi Musa before returning to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv via the Allenby border crossing. (B, L)
