Was going to use Circulator, but found out BigBus stopped outside our hotel. It was so hot (90 degrees) so we opted for tickets. We were well pleased with the pick up punctuality compared to our experience in Philly. We used the tracking app and it was pretty accurate. Stop info was enough to give us an idea of what each attraction offered. Particularly we enjoyed the live tour guide (can't remember her name) but she was super knowledgeable and had many close ties to the area. My 14 year old grandson was so impressed with her knowledge he was thinking he would like to be a guide. He loves history and geography.
Our tickets for the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour just happen to be on a 90 degree day. We took advantage of it by enjoying the ride on top of the bus getting a perspective of where everything we wanted to visit was located in reference to each other. We did get off to visit the war memorials, which we enjoyed very much. All in all, it was a great way to get around, as well as take a load off our feet. We also were able to take a lot of pictures along the way, too. Loved Washington, D.C...so much history and so much to see!
Would be better if at beginning go trip showed people how to tune to English. Also at times my ear phones seemed to go out. Perhaps it was the way the speaker was holding the microphone. It probably would be better if narrator did not say poor Japanese who America held in a concentration camp during the war. There are riders whose father died when the Japanese attacked and killed Americans at Pearl Harbor not to mention Americans killed during the whole World War II.
We used the Washington Hop-On, Hop-Off bus to see as many attractions as possible. We got the 2 day pass and used the first day to prioritize the various monuments and museums we wanted to see. We used the second day to budget our time in seeing all of the attractions we wanted to see and we were already familiar with the bus schedule. The narration provided on most of the routes was also informative and helpful.
We did the whole tour to get our bearings, then cherry picked the places we wanted to see the next day and used the bus as a taxi. Very good commentaries! Only negative, seats are a little uncomfortable!
