Naples' opera house's programme is diverse, with ballet shows taking place between April and June, too. Even if opera and ballet are not your thing, the house is lovely to behold.

National Archaeological Museum

If you are a classical history buff, you've come to the right place. See statues and artwork depicting the beginnings of Europe's rich heritage.

Gesu Nuovo

Gesu Nuovo

The unusual architecture of this church of "New Jesus" dates from the year 1470. It also faces one of Naples' main squares. The inside of the church is also worth a look for its frescoes!

Castel dell'Ovo

Castel dell'Ovo

Located on the peninsula of Megaride, the "Egg Castle" dates back to Roman times and has since seen it all: Norman, Saracen, Spanish, and French invaders. See it as part of a wider tour of Naples to understand its history.

How long should I stay in Naples?

Four days or so should cover the basics - take out whole days for trips outside of Naples, such as to Pompeii and Herculaneum.

How walkable is Naples?

Pretty walkable, especially in the city center. There is also a transit system serving the whole metropolitan area, including a funicular taking you up into the hills.

When should I visit Naples?

All year round, but go between October and March to avoid crowds and very warm weather.

Anything else I should know?

In Italy, some stores and other attractions are closed at lunchtimes or in the afternoons, so double check before you set out somewhere.

What people are saying about Naples

Nice tour with very sympathetic guide and driver

Lea our guide and Paulo our driver were very sympathetic and hearty people. Lea gave us good tipps where to go and many extra explanations about the area. Sorrento is nice - the drive along the Amalfi coast breathtaking and wonderful. Paulo is a very careful and save driver. Positano and Amalfi is overloaded with tourists. Lunch is a joke. The restaurant is in a beautiful spot but the food is cheap and "a special" for tourists who have no choice....

Fun to taste local food and se the charming street in the old city.

The guide was really good. Easy to understand. I think we was 11 people in the group. From 18.00 - 20.30. It was 30 min too long. And we have to wait for the guide. In the 3 last stop the brake was too long. We didn`t see him and it was really cold in the evening. Smaller brake and 2 hour would have been perfect :-)

Amazing experience enhanced by a friendly & knowledgeable guide.

I cannot fault this tour. The lady guide was so hospitable and made the tour very interesting, and the use of a headset ensured we could always hear her, as it was crowded. Also having the entry ticket included in the price, saved a lot of queuing to enter the site. I would highly recommend this tour & company.

This was an amazing stop on our trip and we’re so happy we came.

This site is so much better than Pompeii! The restoration and vision of what had been is clearly amazing. We took the train from Sorrento to the Ecoland Sevia stop. We were lucky there were no crowds and it was an easy walk from the train station. Highly recommend!

Excellent information about the Pompeii site

The Pompeii archeological site was much larger than I expected, and our archeologist guide provided very interesting information and history. Without his explanations, it would have been very difficult to understand how life existed in this city.
