Full description
Be collected from your accommodation early in the morning to take a tour of Nairobi National Park when the animals are at their most active after a night of hunting.

Continue to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to meet baby elephants that have mostly lost their mothers to poaching, death, or another tragedy. Next, meet the majestic Rothschild giraffes of the Giraffe Center, opened to protect and breed the endangered animals. Hand feed the giraffes in safety from a raised observation platform that allows for eye-to-eye interaction. Learn all about giraffe conservation and the various activities of the center.

I really enjoyed the trip. Alex is a very experienced driver and guide and managed to get us through Nairobi National Park without getting stuck unlike many other vehicles. We were also very lucky to have some amazing sightings. Unfortunately we arrived a little late at the Elephants but it was still a great experience non the less. I was a little disappointed by the Giraffe Sanctuary as I expected it to be a bit more organized and guided. It was a little overcrowded.

Very complete tour and worth seeing. Just be aware that different tours are mixed together so make sure when you meet your driver that you are with the right group. My driver had no idea that in addition the National Park I was also supposed to do the Elephant Orphanage and the Giraffes Center. I finally visited them but because I had to complain and asked to be driven in there. If you avoid that situation, totally worth it.

Very knowledgeable and pleasant guide, action packed day

Driver Alex was great, contacted us by phone to be ready (at 5:45 am, we suspected he might be early) and whisked us to arrive at the park at 6:30 am after loading guests at hotels. He drove all over the park until nearly 11 am, finding large numbers of lions, rhinos white and black, giraffes, ostriches, etc. He has good communication with the other drivers and they help each other locate animals. (NB be careful not to drink too much coffee before you start, as we did not notice a toilet there) After the park he got us to the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary in time for the excellent show there, which shares the individuality, playfulness, curiosity and lives of each small orphan elephant, despite their sad experiences. Lunch was a bit expensive and not so tasty, they could choose another venue. The Giraffe Centre was great, both getting up close and personal with very tame giraffes and great staff showing us the museum of conservation. A great day out and much recommended.
