Full description
After being picked up at your hotel early in the morning at 6:00am, you will head towards Nairobi National Park, arriving at around 6:30am. From there, take an exciting 4-hour game drive through the park.
Stay on the lookout for many species of game animals, including black rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest, as well as countless species of wild birds. The park’s open border on its southeast perimeter allows a corridor for the natural migration of game animals during the seasonal rains. Other attractions include the ivory burning site monument, and walking trails at hippo pools.

Please note you will exit the Nairobi National Park at 10:30am to be able to make for the opening time at the Elephant Orphanage at 11:00am. Once you arrive you will take a walk through the nursery and you will explore the paths and trails the infants take. See a mud bath in action and walk around the stables that the orphaned elephants sleep in at night for warmth and protection, accompanied by their elephant keepers. You will stay till 12pm and then proceed to the Giraffe Center. Entry fees to the Orphanage are included.

Proceed to the Giraffe Center, the headquarter for the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife made famous by "Daisy Rothschild", a giraffe calf rescued from Soi, on the Western Kenya border. Daisy and her family form only a small part of a herd of these gentle giants, living in a semi wild state at Giraffe Manor. These animals will come to a protecting wall to be fed. Make the most of your visit when you go to the Giraffe Center nature trail up until the Gogo River. This is what most people don't get to see and it's a fascinating place to walk in the nature, with bushes on either side and birds giving the most wondrous songs. The trail will take about 1-hour going up and down in a relaxing pace. Entry fees to the giraffe center are included . After the tour you will be dropped back to your hotel.

Mixed feelings, some things I liked, somethings I didn’t

Very irritated having to wait one hour to buy the ticket to start the safari, because there were supposed to be four people on the tills and only two turned up. The actual safari was wonderful! The guide worked very hard to find the animals and was happy to stop when asked. There were specific roads so you couldn’t crowd around a specific animal, I liked that very much. The back drop of Nairobi was spectacular. Seeing the baby elephants was wonderful, the only downfall was that because it s the rainy season everyone was caked in red mud. It was also very dangerous when walking on the paving stones. I hated the giraffe centre, everyone fighting to get a photo and for some reason everyone seemed lose their manners. I would not recommend this centre.

Amazing to see so many species in such a short time

After several safaris in other parts of Africa I was amazed to see so much in such a short time and so strange to have the background of Nairobi buildings and traffic with giraffes and buffalo in the foreground. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage was well worth a visit too.
