Moscow is such a stunning city. After a few days of museums, galleries, and historical tours, our family of four (of which I am the youngest at 28) decided to break with the conventional, and do this alternative tour. Ana was a truly insightful, accommodating and proficient guide. We went to a quirky gentrifying area that had the cutest cafe (which I returned to after the tour for a brilliant flat white), book shop, bars and street art. The guide-to- participant ratio meant we had time to ask as many questions as we liked, eliciting local views of politics, youth subcultures, and life in Moscow more generally. This tour was the highlight of an already magical trip to Russia. Thanks for the tour, Ana - we will be back!
I booked this at very short notice online, and met the guide as per the booking in front of the entrance to the Kremlin. The tour lasted an hour and a half and covered most of the areas within the Kremlin, apart from the armoury, where you need a seperate ticket. The tour was very enjoyable and an ear piece and amplifier was provided so that you could easily hear the guides commentary, even if standing some distance away. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone curious to see and find out the history of the buildings which make up the Kremlin in Moscow. It was professionally conducted and well organised.
To meet the tour group, we had to take a metro train, and that, on its own, was an experience. I never thought it will be this easy and straight forward and I came out of the tour with the confidence to use the metro network to get around. Our guide, Anna, was very knowledgeable and informative. The only down-side was the limitation of time. Not all the great looking station you see online were covered by the tour.
It works, however beware the hideous Moscow traffic. The english audioguide is absolute in love with names and dates, telling your about all 17 villageroads leading up to the 4 (all named) centraal roudabouts etc..informative but you do not get a sense of the city..attenties! You need a printout of your ticket!
I ordered the tickets on getyourguide app and got help from the workers on the bus to get internet. Easy to find out how to get to the red square. It was a little confusing to understand the different lines, but I think they will be able to help.
