What people are saying about Monterosso al Mare
We had a wonderful day with a bus full of people going out to Cinque Terre and Marco, our tour guide was spot on! He cares for each one of us like we were the only ones there and gave great directions to all of us as we journeyed From town to town. Thanks to Marco!!! Cinque Terre area itself, is something that has to be seen! Seeing photos just won't do it justice! Each town had an unique quality about them and it was great going from area to area on the local train and then riding the boat from the top of the 5 cities down to the bottom... Before we left to come back to Florence... it had a great view and made some wonderful memories. We wavered back and forth going to Cinque Terre because we had just gotten off a medditerran cruise and thought we had seen it all... but WOW... definitely a top ranked item on our vacation list of favorites! Again Marco-thanks!
This was a super fun adventure! It was my wife’s first time kayaking and she loved it so don’t be scared if you’re a beginner! The food and wine was wonderful and the kayaking was super fun! Simeon and Manuel taught us about the area and helped make the experience one of our favorites we had while in Italy! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone it was so cool to see the towns from another perspective as well as learn about them in the open water! Where we stopped to have food and drinks was gorgeous, one of my favorite views for sure. They stored our bags for us in a locked locker while we were on our trip which was great. I would recommend also bringing a change of clothes as we were soaked afterwards.
The kayaking trip was amazing! I was a bit intimated at first, because I had very little experience kayaking but, Our guide Walter offered a few tips and we were on our way! Walter had to keep reminding me to just go slow, but once I embraced taking my time, the world around me began to come alive! We saw many large bell jelly fish, and Walter was very knowledgable about the rock formations and the history surrounding Cinque Terry! What an awesome way to take in the spectacular views!
I’m not used to large groups but I had no option as getting to Cinque Terra for a day is really only possible by road. I booked late for smaller groups but no vacancies. The group was 52 people with one leader and two subs. Anastasia was very strategic with the group and avoided the masses as far as possible. The free time when we got to each destination was ample. All in all I’m glad I didn’t pay the lots extra for a small group. It worked well.
The tour guides had everything under control, Serena knew perfect Spanish and English. The only thing that was a waste of time was the lunch. Do not take the tour with lunch included, you can find cheaper and better tasting food rather than the restaurant they took us to, and it was an hour long, an hour that you can use to explore more. Everything was amazing and Porto Venere was worth it.
