Full description
You will begin your visit with a history of the construction of Palacio de Bellas Artes. This beautiful building dates back to the 20th century and is decorated inside in an art deco style combined with pre-Hispanic elements. You will continue your tour to explore Palacio de Correos, a work of the Italian architect Adamo Boari. This wonderful complex was inaugurated in 1907 and contains a spectacular interior staircase that impresses all with its beauty. Just a few steps and you will reach Casa de los Azulejos, this name was given to it for its till-covered facade, and inside of this house you will find a covered courtyard that has a restaurant where many local people meet.

Afterwards, you will visit a patisserie called “La Ideal”, where you will find a great variety of cakes. Your guide will explain to you Mexican festivities such as the 15-year-old party, baptisms, and the festival of the dead.  Following this, you will arrive at Plaza de la Constitucion, more known locally with the name “Zocalo”. You will visit the Metropolitana Cathedral (which was constructed on Gran Teocalli´s foundation seat of Azteca's power in Gran Tenochtitlan). This construction, consisting primarily of volcanic stone, has been here for over 300 years. Inside of the building, the altarpiece of the kings is one of most beautiful examples of Mexican baroque art.

Next, you will visit Templo Mayor, its vestiges are proof of the greatness of Mexico City, founded in the year 1325 B.C by the Aztecas. This building contains a modern museum where you can find the most important treasures found during excavations of this site. To finish your tour, you will visit Palacio Nacional. This enclosure belongs to Federal de Mexico, and its construction started in the middle of the 16th century with extract stones from Templo Mayor. During the first part of the 20th century, recognized painter Diego Rivera decorated it with a fresh mural painting. At the end of your Palacio Nacional visit, you will say goodbye to your guide, however if you would like you can continue further enjoying the historical center of the city.
