What people are saying about Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau

Fantastic tour provided by Evelina at Royal Cracow

I can say it was a powerful and moving experience to see these sites firsthand. If you’re visiting Krakow, you must go. Evelina (Royal Cracow Tours) provided a superb tour of Auchswitz and Birkenau. She was extremely knowledgeable of both camps and provided a thorough description of each area visited. She was absolutely marvelous in fielding a myriad of difficult questions from our small group. I’m not sure if there’s to request her by name but if you have an option, pick her. You will glad you did. I opted to have hotel pickup and lunch included in my package and it was well worth it. The Mercedes van was brand new and comfortable. The lunch provided included two sandwiches, fresh fruit (apple and banana) as well a cookie and a bottle of water. The lunch was better than anything at the food stalls and I didn’t have to wait in line for it:). Both sites were very crowded and sometimes hard to maneuver through the sea of people there. Wear comfy shoes - lots of walking.

Great guide, but trip shorter than advertised

Pick up was exactly on time, in a large minibus that was completely full and without proper air conditioning, in temperatures of 33 degrees, and unfortunately with some very loud tourists making it a fairly uncomfortable 90 minute journey. Our guide, Ewa, was very thorough, and insightful, making for a very interesting day, however we were only given 40 minutes in Birkenaw instead of the advertised 90 minutes making it feel a bit rushed, and as it's quite a vast site, we felt like we missed out a fair bit. I would still recommend this trip though

Great experience, not enough time allotted

I really enjoyed how it was set up with a self guided tour so you could take it at your own pace but you still had transportation. My only complaint is that I did not feel I had adequate time at Auschwitz2-Birkenau in particular. We had a few hours for Auschwitz 1, but only about 90 minutes for A2-B. In order to see all the buildings you had to power walk very quickly, so it felt very rushed. Other than that it was an excellent program. Only reason I would not recommend is because of the time crunch.

absolutely daunting and emotionally challenging

We had 90 minutes in Auschwitz-Birkenau and 120 minutes in Auschwitz at our disposal. I would have appreciated to have a little bit more time to see all the exhibits in Auschwitz. A 45 minute documentary of a Russian soldier/reporter at the time of the liberation of Auschwitz was shown on the bus on the way to Auschwitz, which was definitely worthwhile seeing and prepared one for the visit of these memorial sites.

Great value for money, pleasant journey and host

My friend had been to Auschwitz before, and said we could probably get by without a guide to save a bit of money. Although I'm sure a guide would provide extra detail, due to the descriptive nature of Auschwitz I especially, it did not seem necessary. With this tour they provided a guidebook with maps which was perfectly adequate to understand the layout and organisation of the camps.
