Full description
Spend a day visiting the municipality of Guatapé, the city of many names: known variously as the interior sea of Antioquia, the Acapulco of Colombia, the interior Cartagena, Paraíso Paisa (paradise country), Remanso de Paz (haven of peace) and the heart of Antioquia's East, the city was actually named in honor of Cacique Guatapé, an inhabitant of this territory in the pre-Hispanic period. Spend a day visiting this growing and colorful city, made unique by the decorative tiles adorning the lower facade of the houses.

The highlight of your trip will be a visit to the Rock of Guatapé (Piedra del Peñol), a monolithic rock 220 meters high, which was worshiped by the former indigenous inhabitants of the region. Composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, the rock was climbed for the first time on July 16, 1954 by an inhabitant of the area, Luis Eduardo Villegas López - and the stone still belongs to the Villegas family. You can now access its summit by climbing 740 steps built into the monolith.

For the third part of the day, enjoy a 1-hour boat tour through the reservoir with crossover music. See panoramic views of Casa Museo, La Cruz, Piedras del Marial, Piedra del Peñol and the ruins of the Pablo Escobar's vacation home. Throughout the whole day, you'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide.

The trip was very well organised. Our guide Gina speaks very well english and she was explaining everything, telling us wat was going to happen and giving a lot of information about places that we were visiting. Plus she was making it a lot of fun. Lovely day, thank you Gina :)

Not for boredom ... ;-) We had a wonderful day, which started very early in the morning. At 7 a.m. we started on time with Gianna ... we visited a lot and laughed a lot! Gianna is a real happy person and made the excursion exciting and entertaining ... The time flew by ... All stages were worth seeing and limited in a reasonable time frame, so that there was no time for boredom! The arrival and departure, the visits, the food, etc. was all great! A total of 10/10 points !!! Super action and highly recommended! PS: Everyone makes the ascent ... even people who do not do any sport need only about 20 minutes for the ascent, which is easily possible via correct steps! Absolute "must-have"! @Gianna: YOU ARE THE BEST !!! WE WILL DON'T FORGET YOU !!!

This was a great tour! We got to visit El Peñol and Guatapé. Ginna knew a lot about the history of each place and provided us with great context. I had mainly booked this tour so that I could climb La Piedra and learn its history, but I am glad this included all those different locations. It really provided great insight on the Colombian people and their history. While this was almost a 12-hour tour, I felt a bit rushed whenever we stopped at a location. I felt I needed more time to shop or to sight see. Regardless, this was a great taste of Guatapé and El Peñol.
