Full description
Benefit from pick-up at your hotel, and then journey to the Bois Chéri tea plantation to explore the first tea plantation of Mauritius, founded in 1892. Nestled high on the central plateau, Bois Chéri is truly in a world of its own. Get the option to visit the plantation, factory and museum, and to taste some of the teas it produces!

Learn about the history of tea in Mauritius and its impact on shaping the island. Hear about the stages of tea production, from harvesting through fermentation to drying, sieving and packaging. Sample a variety of teas while looking out over an extinct volcanic crater transformed into a lake.

Then, go to La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes and discover a variety of flora and fauna, including palm, banana trees and giant bamboo. Encounter the resident 2,000 Nile crocodiles and 1,000 giant tortoises. You can also visit the insectarium to discover one of the best private collections in the world.

See the true power of nature along the south coast of the island, where the coral reef provides no protection from the immense force of the ocean. Watch the powerful waves crash on the cliffs at Gris Gris, and get the chance to visit La Roche gui Pleure ("The Rock that Cries") to look at a natural rock formation that resembles a person crying when the waves hit.
