Full description
Spending a night in the Sahara Desert is an unforgettable experience for visitors to Morocco and this three-day tour lets you travel further and explore more along the way. Visit UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the Valley of the Roses, and Tinghir ; stop at traditional Berber villages around the Todra Gorge; then take a camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes the highest in Morocco and sleep beneath the desert stars at Berber campsite.

Day 1 : Marrakech - Tinghir
Your shared 3 day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start early in the morning. Depart from Marrakech around 7:30 AM to ait ben haddou through tizi Ntichka pass and the high Atlas Mountains. Many stops will be made along the way. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah ait ben haddou, which was also served as a set for various Hollywood blockbusters. Continue to Ouazazate and Kasbah Taourirte before lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Tinghir via the valley of the roses before you reach your hotel located in Tinghir. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 : Tinghir – Merzouga
After breakfast at your hotel in Tinghir, your journey will start today with a drive along the road of 1001 Kasbah to Ouasis of Tinghir, where you will deviate to a minor road driving along the river to todra canyons. After some time at leisure to enjoy the immensity of the hugecliffs, and lunch at a local café (at your leisure), continue early in the afternoon to Rissani , famous for its date market, and being a starting point of the ancient trading caravans crossing the sahara desert to Tomboctou. After a quick stop, continue to Merzouga driving through some rocky desert landscape. Upon arrival at the edge of Erg Chebbi dunes, meet your camel caravan, and ride your camels through the amazing color-changing sand dunes with the sunset in the horizon as a backdrop. Reach your Sahara Desert camp, nestled in the middle of nowhere just before darkness.
After some time to admire the sand dunes and the surrounding landscapes, get ready for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars next to a camp fire. Late at night, enjoy berber music with the local hosts playing drums.

Day 3 : Merzouga – Marrakech
After an early breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road, meet your driver and drive back to Ouarzazte. After some time at leisure for lunch, carry on in the afternoon to Marrakech through the high atlas mountains.

What a wonderful trip for an amazing price. This tour felt like a private tour, it was just the right sized group for it to be social but not overcrowded. The tour matched the description and exceeded our expectations. There is no getting away from it being a long journey, but the frequent stops make it manageable and it is totally worth it to see the Sahara! The stars are amazing!!!!! The accommodation was high quality with private tents and thick blankets - ideal for the chilly nights.

We enjoyed at maxim every moment of this beautiful trip. We started from Marrakech our trip with guide Hicham and another 8 travellers. The van is very confortable - with clima-, our guide Hicham is a good driver, we feel in safe during at the trip. Furthermore, he is a very cool personality. He likes what he is doing. We receive a lot of information about Marocco, about berber's lifestyle, traditions. He always stopped, when we want to buy something, to go on toilet, or to make pictures. A lot of panoráma on this trip, to make huge photos, show by hím. He reccomended us the restaurants to eat. Morocco is an interesting and beautiful country. We are feeling wondered in the Sáhara, at Merzouga dunes. Camel ride is the most fine thing, at sunset and át sunrise too. The berber camp is something undescriptionable. Confort of 5 stars in a tent, good food, and berber show. I think he is a famous berber singer, because he plays on diferents instruments here... Thanks for U !

The whole tour is very well planned. There were lots of stops on the way, so even the way back (11 hrs in the bus) was tolerable. The space between seats is very small though, so you can´t totally relax in the bus. Our guide Mustafa was nice, patient and helpful, as well as the guides at the places where we stopped for a sightseeing. Air-conditioning worked well (unlike in the buses of some other Sahara tour organisers). The hotel was nice and comfy, so were the tents at Merzouga. It was really nice to get a private tent just for the two of us. Riding a camel is shaky and a bit painful, partly because I am quite heavy, but the "camel guy" helped me a lot. Sahara was MAGICAL, especially sunset & sunrise, as well as looking at the sky over Sahara at night: millions of shining stars. There´s one thing that should have been mentioned to us in advance: you can´t take even a small suitcase to Sahara. You have to pack things in a separate back bag, so many of us had to re-pack in Merzouga.
