What people are saying about Marken

Great guide, delightful cheese and clog maker interesting windmil s

I like the company that provided this tour ExperienceWaterland.com. The guide Jan was smart, informed and good natured. Zaan Schaans windmills was fun and very interesting! Who knew windmills were so diverse and task specific. I felt the additional admission to go inside the lumber cutting windmill was very much worth it. Volendam was so over crowded and touristy, like a Disneyland version of a Dutch village. The final stop was a quiet village very pretty not touristy at all but no activity, and very wealthy so not exactly one’s countryside Dutchlife. The Netherlands is a victim of its own success; every traditionally popular place is so jam packed with hundrededs of 60 to 80 person bus loads of people that it has lost the character that made it great. I give this tour a lot of credit for at least trying to find quieter places .

This is a great tour and I definitely recommend it!

Thank you, this was the highlight of Amsterdam. We went in at the back of the windmill village and got to experience it quietly and private. We went to a little farm where they still make the wooden shoed by hand. We understood that this was the only place around where they still make them by hand. We stayed away from the mass in Volendam and the guide gave us the option to go with him to a local and unique fishing village. Wow, all by ourselves with the locals. Thank you so much to take us of the tracks and show us the real thing tol! Good luck!!!

Considering trips like this? Look no further this is perfect! 10/10

There were four of us on our tour and the trip was fantastic from start to finish. It was a lovely insight into Holland and the Dutch way of life, from Windmills to Clog Making and Cheese Tasting, along with beautiful scenery the half day trip was thoroughly enjoyable. Teun our guide was amazing he was friendly, easygoing, knowledgeable and patient. Making the experience really customer centred, which l don't think a large coach trip tour could achieve. This trip is definitely worthwhile!

Our guide was very informative and easy to listen to.

We totally enjoyed our tour, after a mix-up with the scheduling. I booked this trip months ago, but when we got there it was overbooked. We opted for the afternoon tour, which our guide graciously invited us to. There were only 5 in the car, so we had a lot time with the guide. That was great! The only problem with the afternoon tour was that everything was terribly crowded and it was difficult to see everything in a timely fashion since was mid-afternoon.

This was awesome and a highlight of our 10-day Netherlands trip

This was awesome and a highlight of our 10-day Netherlands trip! I wish we had been able to do the same in other places in Holland. Great fun and so easy, having a small group tour makes all the difference. We saw so much and think this is the best way to travel as opposed to having to figure out everything on our own. Worth every penny and highly recommend!
