We were already excited to go to the blue lagoon but our experience on Hornblower was absolutely incredible! Super friendly staff, loved the top deck with the grass, deck chairs and especially the slide and where you could jump off. The restaurant/bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. I have recommended so many people to this boat tour already. We were in Malta for 2 weeks and went on two other boat companies and we regretting not just going with hornblower every time. Many others don’t have a slide or as good food or drinks. And they did not have a sun deck and you had to pay for snorkels. If you went yourself, it costs €10-15 anyway just to get to the blue lagoon by ferry and you have to sit on jagged sharp rocks and buy the expensive food on Comino. Do yourself a favour, don’t bother with any other companies and BOOK HORNBLOWER now!!
Although initial plans were for another fiesta, we failed to go there due to the delayed minibus with participants from north. The guide, Paul, decided to lead us to Ormi for the fiesta of St Sebastian. He offered us good information about the way Maltese celebrate their Saints and in specific people of Ormi St Sebastian. He managed to get us inside the Cathedral and in Ormi's Philarmonic whose interior was quite interesting and he let us free to enjoy after recommending us where to taste what. The air fireworks were more obvious out of the central square and the Cathedral. The show was amazing even by realizing that we could see fireworks from other two neighboring villages as well. The land fireworks at the square started later than programmed. However, Paul managed to delay our departure so we didn't miss any single firework at the square.
The tour was good and well organised. Comfortable boat but P.A system was not brilliant so missed a lot of the commentary. The stop to swim was beautiful and everyone took advantage of this , in beautiful clear blue water. Comino was a bit disappointing as over crowded. Deckchairs and an umbrella cost 15 euro. The food vans although convenient were didn't compliment the beautiful location . Gozo trip was good. We visited Xlendi. The beach here was tiny but nice restaurants and you can swim in the sea via small ladders from the waters edge. . All in all a decent day out at a very reasonable price.
We picked up the Bus at a well marked stop outside of the Valletta city gate. Some of the other drop off/pick up points were not so well marked and you needed to have a clear mental map in your head. A flyer for each location maybe priced at one Euro would be useful for those without this ability. Very good tour despite some reckless driving on one of the buses. Can thoroughly recommend this as an informative day out.
The hornblower tour is something different! It's a small boat with room for sunbathing and with a glide to go in the water. The other boats you see are huge boats where they squeeze as many people as possible together... The crew is lovely and friendly! Also the personal touch with our driver on Gozo, Edward, was so nice. It made our day even better. By far the best experience of our holiday!
