Popular History & Heritage in Lyon

We took the two hour tour and saw just about all we needed to see of Lyon. There were only four of us on the tour as we took it on an overcast day. This was good as it meant it remained cool. I was not sure about the lectric bikes at first as I had never ridden one, but by the end of the tour we were all converts. The make the ride so much easier. We covered all the banks of the rivers. Started around the pool area of the Rhone, down to "The Conjucture", the meeting of the rivers. Then up and over the Saome, past the original town area for Lyon until we crossed it again up near the tunnel that takes you under the hill on the middle peninsular to the Rhone again. We crossed back to the side we started riding down to the pool area again then back to the office on the other side. All up around 2.5 hours. We saw a lot and it would have been nice to do it a little slower so photos could be taken. But it was well worth it. I would recommend it as a tour most could do.

I was hesitant at first to considering the price for a walking based tour, but the history and small nuances provided by the host were second to none. She was extremely friendly and very accommodating. The food (and wine) were brilliant, and the tour shows you parts of Lyon Old Town that you might not otherwise see. We were also able to see a silk trader at work, and were explained the history of silk, Lyon, and the Traboules, and how they co-existed. Overall, very excellent! P.s. the first stop with the cheese was very tasty! We went back and bought more!

My sisters & I thoroughly enjoyed the Beaujolais half day tour. It was their first time in the Rhône-Alps region and one of their first times at a wine tasting or a vineyard. We all have varied levels of wine knowledge but equally appreciated the information given about the viticultural & vinification process of wine by Ian & Étienne. Oingt was a beautiful middle point & showed a unique aspect to the region’s history. The whole tour was very enjoyable.

We had an enjoyable experience learning not only the food and wine but also fascinating local history with an insight as to how the city and the food are inter woven. Surprisingly a highlight of the tour was not of a culinary nature but of a local artisan who specialised in the weaving of extremely beautiful hand woven silk. The whole experience was definitely enhanced by our knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic guide Oliver.

Grace was a very easy going accommodating and educational tour guide. She gave us a true taste of the region and the visit to Etienne Blanc’s vineyards was a great experience from an authentic smaller wine producer,. The village if Oingt is beautiful as well. They both gave us a true taste of the gorgeous Beaujolais region. Highly recommend this excursion. We will have lifetime memories of this day!
