This 5-Day spiritual tour takes you to the very famous UNESCO World Heritage sites in both Kathmandu and Lumbini. The Kathmandu tour comprises of a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. These holy sites unveil the incredible beauty of the royal palace, the largest stupa in Nepal, a temple full of monkeys and one of the holiest temples for Hindus, respectively. The Durbar Square presents temples rich in architecture such as Taleju, Krishna, Kal Bhairab, and Jagannath Temple among many other splendid architectural sites. The Boudhanath Stupa provides a serene environment with prayer flags waving all around the stupa and the devout walking a Kora clockwise around the base. The visit to Swayambhunath is a peaceful experience, a place where Buddha statues can be observed along the base of the Stupa. The evening aarti in Pashupatinath Temple is a must visit in Kathmandu.
Your tour will then proceed to Lumbini where you will get to witness the ancient Maya Devi Temple, the famous Ashoka Pillar, and the sacred garden, all within walking distance from each other. The Ashoka pillar is a memorial pillar built by Maurya Emperor Ashoka of India. On the south side of the pillar, lies the holy Puskarni pond where Queen Maya Devi had taken a bath before giving birth to Sakyamuni Buddha. On the north side of the garden is the monastic area where there are 25 different international monasteries built by different countries representing different sects of Buddhism.
The Vihars and monasteries create a peaceful location that is ideal for meditation. The tour includes Lumbini - Buddhist Circuit walk, which present insights into the Lord Buddha's life. There are 62 archaeological sites spread around Lumbini such as Tilaurakot, Kudan, and Gothihawa to name a few. The meditation in the Panditarama Vipassana Centre can be refreshing, along with interacting with the resident monks. The tour creates a great learning experience of lifestyles, cultures, traditions, and customs and religions.
