Full description
Visit the mysterious Stonehenge and the World Heritage Site of Avebury.
Head out from London on a full-day trip to King Arthur’s realm! Learn the facts and fiction about King Arthur and the mystical Isle of Avalon. Explore ancient stone circles in the Kingdom of Wessex, including Avebury and the iconic Stonehenge.

The day begins as you make your way to Stonehenge. Your guide will tell you about the 5,000 years of Stonehenge history and about the theories and ideas that scholars continue to debate. Was the site an astronomical clock, a calendar, a place of worship, or a burial place for the elite? You can ponder the theories as you walk around the stones and admire the views.

Continue west to Celtic lands, toward the Isle of Avalon and mystical Glastonbury. Stop at the famous Glastonbury Tor. Descend to the Chalice Well Gardens to hear about the legend of Joseph of Aramathea and the chalice from the Last Supper.

Your final stop on this small group tour is the World Heritage Site of Avebury. Not just unusual due to its size (Avebury is home to the largest Stone Circle complex in the world), but also because it is the only Stone Circle with a village built in the middle of it. Here, enjoy a guided walk and some free time to explore this fascinating site before your return to London.

Stonehage and Glastonbury joined this tour because they wanted to go so much. Stonehage also has a Japanese audio guide. Unfortunately, the rain was terrible, but it was a memorable experience. The guides and bus drivers were kind and grateful. I can only speak English. Participants of the tour also had a gentle and fun time. The last one has been a bit quick, but I'm satisfied.

Be prepared to know some or if only a little, the history in the places go to with Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Avebury. Oh an make sure you take some wet weather gear in case it rains and dont forgot it, cause i certainly forgot mine lol. However this, i will say. Tony our guide was more than happy to lend his umbrella. He was fantastic, friendly, open/honest and a great sense of humor mixed in with being very knowledgeable of the history on places went to see. He did a great job getting around despite the major delays getting out of London at first which was really unfortunate. I highly recommend going on this trip and seek out Tony if you can!

Stone Wonders!

Our driver and guide, Tony, arrived in a mini coach on time at our meeting place, in front of the British Museum, and was kind enough to give a few minutes for one late guest. He brilliantly shared his views on history, culture, and politics regarding England and entertained our questions. He provided ample time to roam around, take photos, grab a bite, and use the restroom at each of the major sites. We were first to arrive in Stonehenge, which is ideal because we had less crowds to encounter. Our next adventure was Glastonbury and our favorite stop was the Abbey ruins, where we also had a chance to visit a cafe and Tor, but wish he gave us a little more than a few minutes to take photos since we were discouraged from going up on the hill. Avebury was relaxing with stones to see up close. Tony's sense of humor made the trip fun and we definitely enjoyed this small and personal group tour to see stone wonders!
