What people are saying about Litchfield National Park
Our day started early but was well worth it. We had a full bus of folks who were so good natured and happy all day. I think that was because of our guide Stevo and his relaxed positive and welcoming attitude and approach to the whole day. We enjoyed some delicious and fresh snacks and morning and afternoon teas which were spaced across the day very well. Lunch was a BBQ which was tasty but the bread rolls were super dry and the burger meat was super processed sausage meat. The bus was not the most comfortable of rides with not a lot of room but given we were getting on and off a lot there were plenty of opportunities to stretch our legs. We experienced some breath taking scenery including spectacular falls, rivers and water holes with the option to swim or walk or both. The level of activity was really up to you with no pressure and the timing of each visit was excellent so we didn’t feel rushed or bored. If you only had one day up the NT top end then this one day would not disappoint.
Daz our guide was fantastic. We all had a few laughs along the way and pick up was right on time. Daz knew a lot about the area. As we got to the jumping crocodile attraction, we met Pat. What a legend. It was worth going just to met Pat. Such a character. Barefoot with a gun and knife strapped to him he took us on our boat . Pat has a lot of passion for nature which shows when he speaks about the crocs that inhabit the Adelaide River. To see these ancient creatures up close ( right next to the boat) was mind blowing. We travelled further on to Leichfield Park. Amazing waterfalls. The water was refreshing and clear. After our first swim, we had wraps for lunch in the park. Wangi Falls was beautiful. We decided to go for the short walk to the tree tops which was a bit disappointing as there was a lot of stairs and nothing to see when we reached the top. I would defiantly recommend this tour. A new bus would be great for the guide as it had a broken clutch. Bring money to buy snacks
I had only 1 spare day to see outside Darwin. This was perfect! The group was not too big. The information about termite mounds and other was spot on. The green ants were quite tasty and a touch up manicure with fig leaf new. The swimming was refreshing especially sitting on ledge behind the waterfall. Well organised tour - not too long on the bus between stops and enough time at the stops. Finishing the day with a cold beverage was perfect. Thanks for the great day Rowdy!
Enjoyed the day but was uncomfortable in my seat which was on top of the engine and air condition unit so leg room was poor and the area was hot to touch. I would suggest the 2 seats in this spot not be used for paying passengers. As the bus was full there was no option to move.
The visit to the Termite Mounds and Litchfield National Park was made all the more enjoyable due to the informative, educational commentary provided by our AAT Kings bus driver host. he had a great sense of humour as well which made the travelling time pass quickly.
