From Amsterdam: Day Trip to Leiden and Kagerplassen
- Take a boat ride on the Kagerplassen
- Explore the rich history of Leiden
- Visit the birthplace of Rembrandt
Leiden is one of the most historic cities in the Netherlands. Upon arrival, your guide will take you to the 16th-century town hall, the old Pieterskerk, and to the oldest university in the Netherlands. You’ll visit Rembrandt van Rijns’ birthplace, see where Rembrandt grew up and where he first developed his painting career.
After some time to explore Leiden on your own, hop aboard the minivan once again and continue on to Warmond. Once there, board a boat and explore the Kagerplassen. The Kagerplassen is a small network of canals, islands, and polders (land reclaimed from the sea). Along with the Braassemermeer, this is the area with the most windmills in the Netherlands. Enjoy the beautiful Dutch views before heading back to Amsterdam in late-afternoon.
