What people are saying about Lagoa
Mario was a great guide on this exciting trip. After a short safety and instructional chat on the beach we were paddling along the sea cliffs. High tide and chopping conditions made it quite exciting, especially landing and departing from the beach in the cave. Be prepared to get cold and wet, and make some graceless exits from your kayak! The worst thing was the sheer number of powered boats in the water but the best thing was feeling superior as we paddled our own kayak. We met Mario at his truck parked in front of tiny Benagil beach where we collected a life jacket and paddle before heading down to the water. I recommend this tour to anyone with a little fitness and a sense of adventure.
The crew is excellent, speaking nice English, knowledgeable about the sights and were driving the boat crazy good (even in challenging weather conditions). The tour along the shores was amazing, visited several caves, including the famous Benagil cave! We had plenty of time to take pictures, though we did not have the opportunity to get off the boat in the Benagil cave (it might be due to regulation?). Anyway, we also went far away from the coast to see dolphins and were lucky enough to catch some :) Tips&tricks: put on the jacket they provide (it's windy and cold out there), prepare with dry clothes as we got wet from head to toe.
This was a fun and memorable tour. We had a group with mixed abilities and our guide did very well to keep everyone together (not an easy task!). In addition to the cave, which is awe-inspiring, we saw a number of other beautiful landscapes from our unique vantage point. We had sufficient time to get out at the cave, look around and take pictures - something you can't do from a speed boat! The cave was busy but the guides managed our entrance safely. Would highly recommend this tour!
Host were excellent and nature at its best. It is one of our best 2,5 hours spent, this trip is worth every penny. Ice tea was served in the boat, as complimentary. Loreonzo did excellent explanation and Miguel had excellent sense of humour with total control on the boat. All in all, one of the most memorable trip.
Amazing to see so many totally wild animals getting on with what dolphins do, and at such close range. We were lucky with the dolphins, had none turned up i would have been bored with the caves in about five minutes, having said that it was a great couple of hours and I’m glad I went
