Full description
Explore the unique landscapes of La Guajira Desert, including crystal clear waters, sprawling desert scenes, and remote beaches and bays, on this private, 3-day trip. The adventure starts with pickup from your hotel in Riohacha and heads off into the desert for your first encounter with this spectacular landscape.

Arrive at the Salt Flats of Manaure, where locals produce sea salt using a traditional process. Learn about this careful process as you wander around the saltwater pools before travelling to the small village of Cabo de la Vela. At the village, enjoy lunch and some free time to relax or explore at your own leisure, then visit a typical farm of the local indigenous tribe, the Wayuu. Discover the customs and traditions of the tribe, and experience their culture first-hand. Next, admire a stunning sunset from the Pilón de Azúcar, a large rock formation that plays an important role in Wayuu culture. At the end of an epic first day, spend a relaxing evening at your accommodation, with dinner included.

After breakfast on day two, travel to the northernmost part of the continent, stopping at scenic spots along the way including oasis harbors, beautiful bays, and desert viewpoints. At midday, chill out on the beach as you eat lunch then visit the Dunes of Taroa, one of the most impressive attractions in La Guajira. As you cross the enormous sand mountains, marvel at impressive views of the paradisaical beaches that surround you and take a refreshing dip in the ocean at this unique remote location. In the afternoon, soak up the tranquil atmosphere at the Lighthouse of Punta Gallinas, then head to your accommodation for the evening.

Day three begins with breakfast and a boat ride around Hondita Bay, which boasts scenic views across the landscape. Later, enjoy lunch in Uribia before beginning the journey back to Riohacha in the afternoon. At the end of an unforgettable adventure, sit back and relax whilst gazing at the last of the desert views and reminiscing on your trip.
