Full description
Proyecto Asis, La Fortuna is a wildlife rescue center focused on the protection and rehabilitation of local animals. Visitors can tour the facilities, or volunteer to care for the animals, whose natural habitats are often threatened by human development and expansion in the area.

The tour begins with an explanation of the importance of the center’s goal of preserving wildlife populations in the face of illegal hunting and natural habitat destruction. Asis works with non-profit organizations and environmental agencies to save animals, return them to the forest, and educate the public about multiple species in danger of extinction.

The Asis tour with volunteering provides the opportunity for visitors to not only see the facilities and wild animals but to assist in the rehabilitation process. You will learn about the center’s dedication to the protection of the incredible diversity of life in the Costa Rican ecosystems and the mission to save wild animals and reintroduce them into their natural habitat.

The tour includes a guided walk on trails around the site to visit all of the animals and find out where they come from. Then, join the staff to assist with all of the important tasks needed to help the wild creatures. Asis offers the chance to feed and care for the animals in addition to building and repairing enclosures.

A visit to the center is an excellent way to see the animals up close, while simultaneously learning and contributing to the preservation of local wildlife.
