What people are saying about La Barceloneta
My daughter and I went for a day out to the aquarium and we were thrilled to walk round the aquariums and see the local fish and octopus but also the most beautiful specimens of sharks and Adeline is a real enthusiast so she was showing me all the different types. There is a very impressive walk through a large aquarium full of Sea rays, sharks etc , you name it it was there! The restaurant also sells very tasty food and there is a Spanish section where we had the tastiest paella . The aquarium shop is brilliant almost too good as I spent a fortune on T-shirts soft toys knickknacks and lots of presents for the family so all in all a great day out.
It takes about an hour to go around, well worth visiting the sharks which were in an impressive tank. You can swim with the sharks as well, if that's your thing! There is a nice little travelator that moves around the whole shark tank so you can just stand and video as it moves along. Lots of other species to see as well, and the only thing we didn't like was that the Penguins were kept in doors, which was a shame as the rest of the Aquarium was well looked after. All in all, reasonably priced, and worth a visit.
Got online on my phone, a few hours before we wanted to take the kids to the aquarium. Booked the tickets (no extra fee) and on our arrival just pulled them out on my phone (no printing required) to show and we were in. It was definitely a good job we ordered the etickets beforehand as the line was hugely long when we got there, and believe me, I could've not stood waiting in the line for ages while my 7 yrs old nephew would've kept asking me "when are we getting in!?" every 2 minutes!
Definitely book in advance and skip the queue. Once in there is series of fish tanks with a great array of different fish. It was crowded when we visited making it difficult to see and you need to jostle a bit. The main tank is great with a clever conveyor belt to stand on so everyone gets a fair turn viewing. Need just about one to one and half hours. Skip the cafeteria nothing special there. Gift shop is just throw away toys (shame).
The queue for the aquarium was huge so I looked online for a ticket whilst standing next to the giant queue. Found this site and paid for tickets in seconds and walked straight in and we were let straight in after looking at the ticket on my phone. Was mega busy in the aquarium but nice fish in there and clever walkway under the water which was the best bit! Interactive bit for children at the end was also great!
