Full description
Your calligraphy instructor will welcome you to the 110-year-old wooden townhouse upon your arrival. You will start the activity with an introduction teaching you about the three kinds of characters in the Japanese alphabet and their history. Next, the instructor will demonstrate how to use a brush and paint with ink.

You’ll then try to write simple horizontal and vertical lines, then write a kanji and learn its meaning. A kanji is one of the three scripts used in the Japanese language, which were first introduced to Japan in the 5th century via Korea.

Finally, you’ll paint a kanji of your choice. This 1-hour calligraphy class offers a great opportunity to relax and be mindful of your work. At the end of the class, you will be able to take your own piece of calligraphy home with you.

If you choose the option with kimono hire added, you will be able to take photos with your piece of calligraphy dressed in a kimono.
