Full description
Tatras are the most popular tourist mountains with the highest point in Poland, Rysy at 2499 meters (8200 feet). They also form a natural border between the country and Republic of Slovakia. The Tatra Mountains area are protected by law under the establishment of the Tatra National Park, which entered in UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves. You will start in Krakow, where the driver will pick you up from your hotel. The first stop after a 1.5-hour drive will be Chocholow which lies 17 kilometers (11 miles) east of Zakopane. This small town is located around one street, and shows probably the most complete survival of an old Goral village. Stop for a short walk among the beautiful old houses, and also you will visit one of them. You will see an old interior from the 19th century. By request, you will also be able to stop at number 28, where a talented local wood sculptor lives, and you will be able to buy handmade sculptures and souvenirs there. Your next stop, Zakopane, is located at the foothills of Tatras, a half-hour drive from Chocholow. There, you will see a local life of the winter capital of Poland and taste traditional snacks, for example Oscypek – a local smoked cheese made of sheep milk. Next for lunch, you will be taken back to city center for some free time (approximately 1 hour). You will be able to taste the best local dishes and buy souvenirs from local booths. Zakopane is also full of beautiful views. The best lookout point of the surrounding region is at Gubalowka Mountain, 1126 meters (3694 feet). You will get there by cable railway and be shown a panoramic view of Zakopane and Tatras. That will be a perfect place to take some photos. Finally, you will be taken for a 2.5-hour rest in Bukowina Thermas. Relax in the hot pools filled with the thermal water extracted from 2400 meters (8100 feet) below the earth’s surface on the northwestern hill of the Wysoki Wierch Mountain.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to do this tour. I'd researched hard beforehand and there literally is no other sensible way to visit these places independently in one day if you are visiting from Krakow. It is a fantastic itinary. We absolutely loved wooden house and the intricacies of the wood carving. I was delighted with the wooden church we passed en route and Jacob was good enough to stop for a photo. The view over the tantra mountains was breathtaking. But for us the highlight was the thermal baths. We counted a total 9 pools inside and out, everything from the very clever massage pool (jets positioned to massage different parts on the body in turn, move to the next when you hear the sound) to a very decent water slide. My favourite was one of the outside hot pools with massage jets. We spent a dair amount of time in that one. It was really quiet when we went and the baths were spotlessly clean. Jacob the Driver was absolutely fantastic!!

Highly recommend this tour!

Thank you so much for an amazing tour! Our tour guide Jacob was really helpful and told us a lot about krakow and surrounding areas. He was very attentive and made sure we were happy. We were given plenty of time to go around the markets and given enough time visiting Zakopane. The whole trip was fantastic! Myself and my partner are very pleased and we would recommend anyone to do this tour. The pools are lovely too, this was the last part of the trip. Thank you so much!
