Full description
Depart Krakow for a confronting day of reflection with a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. Undoubtedly, it is a solemn place that leaves a lasting impression all visitors, and an important memorial to the victims of the extermination.

Funded by the Nazi party in 1940, Auschwitz-Birkenau became both a symbol of human suffering and a witness to physical and emotional exhaustion. As the largest concentration camp operated by the Nazis, it became the final resting place for millions of people, mostly Jews, put to their death in the hideous gas chambers.

Visit the museum and memorial in the suburbs of Oświęcim, about 60 kilometers west of Krakow. Upon arrival, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes later, meet a professional guide who will show you around the site and speak of its dark history.

Pass through the gate with the inscription "Arbeit macht frei" to enter Auschwitz I, where your guide will show you around the preserved area and explain the history of this place. Then, visit the second camp at Birkenau, where mass killings took place as part of the Nazi "Final Solution to the Jewish Question." Spend about 1 hour at the Birkenau camp, before meeting your driver for the return journey to Kraków.

Auschwitz is amazing and emotional, which really leaves you tired after a day there. The guided tour is really good and at a good pace. The transport was ok, was supposed to be in minivans but I’m sure they merged a few groups together (my 9am trip got changed to 10am the night before) and so it was a big coach with 55 of us on board. If I did it again I’d probably just get the train to the town as it seems pretty easy with shuttle buses between the 2 sites. All in all great tour

Impressive. This visit really comes into its own if you are shown on the spot by someone who can tell you all the backgrounds. Through the headset you get everything that the tour guide tells without the sounds of other groups and / or tour leaders. After all, it can be quite busy. The headset allows you to concentrate better on the story. Entire trip, from collection to bringing home perfectly arranged.

Bus driver was around 15 mins late, however overall trip was amazing! Well communicated about trip days before hand and Matthew the tour guide was very knowledgable, also information provided by tour leader was accurate and helpful. *Beware info provided by tour leader on bus but would be useful before hand!* Bags bigger than an A4 sheet of paper not allowed into Auchwitz, although allowed in Birkneau, also toilets 2 Zloty.
