I visited Auschwitz-Berkinau with 'get your guide'. For me it was a very sobering and overwhelming experience and one that I am very glad I did. Until that visit I THOUGHT I knew how horrific that time in our history was. I came away from there with the full realisation that I hadn't a clue. I can not and never will be able to comprehend the true scale of the horror that was Auschwitz. We can never undo the suffering endured by those people but it is our absolute duty to make sure it is never forgotten. We must learn to be kind to our fellow human beings and remember that it is kindness that sets you free-not work-as was the motto over the entrance. I highly recommend this trip. To anyone who is hesitating, I say DO IT. You will not regret it. Your only sadness-and it will be a great one-is that so many good kind ordinary hard-working innocent men women and beautiful little children had to die in the most horrific manner -for the ideals of a few.

This is one of those tours that you ask yourself, should I go? and the answer is yes. We started with the salt mines and I am glad we did. The salt mines are amazing and the stories behind them just as much. From there we traveled to Auschwitz and Birkenau. I will tell you that nothing prepares you for what you see and the stories that you hear. But I think it is necessary to remind us of what happened, to hope help us to never let it happen again but also to see how the human spirit can prevail, even under these horrible stories, the survivors wanted to make sure their stories were told and went on to live amazing lives. It is an emotionally draining day, but also one that can change how you look at the world. Our guides at each location were amazing. At the salt mines, she was funny and informative, and at the concentration camps, they were solemn and respectful to the history they were telling.
