Full description
Join your group at the meeting point and drive to the canyoning area in the Kaaimans River valley, less than 10 minutes away. Hike through private land, with permission, and experience following a handmade trail. The downhill hike takes 30 to 40 minutes, but you will return the same way. Your guide will share some interesting facts and observations about the ecosystem, including the varied and exciting wildlife that live in the forest, normally unseen.

Once at the river, get geared up in the wetsuits and other equipment. Your clothes and towels will stay dry at this spot. Whatever you wear under the wetsuit will get wet, but you can get changed before the hike back. Then you'll abseil down 30 meters into the gorge and appreciate the unmissable views. You will be instructed on how to use the descender but there is a backup rope in place, so it doesn't matter if you don't do it perfectly.
In the gorge your guide will show you the best spots for canyoning. Cliff jumping is optional, but hopefully you will try a small jump of 1 to 2 metres. The jumps are in progressive order, so you can grow in confidence and skill. The highest jump is 13 meters, but all high jumps require qualification by landing the previous jump in control. Hike back to the changing area and stow the equipment. Enjoy a small homemade energy snack before making your way back to the vehicle. On the way back to the drop off point, visit the Map of Africa lookout to see the river from above and a great vista of the Wilderness shoreline.
